Five LSU Law School students attended the 61st Annual Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Institute in Anchorage, Alaska from July 16 through 18, with most of the students’ travel expenses being paid by a grant from the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation. The Annual Institute included presentations by Professors Keith Hall and Patrick Martin, as well as by other nationally prominent oil and gas scholars and practitioners.

Professors Keith Hall and Blake Hudson each spoke on water resource issues at the 78th Annual Louisiana Conference on Water Supply in Alexandria, Louisiana on March 10, 2015.
Professor Keith Hall’s article, The Application of Oil & Gas Lease Implied Covenants: Old Meets New, was cited multiple times by the Ohio Court of Appeals in its opinion in Yoder v. Artex Oil Co. Professor Hall’s article was originally published in the 32nd Annual Proceedings of the Energy & Mineral Law Institute.
Professor Keith Hall spoke to the Baton Rouge Geological Society regarding baseline testing of groundwater prior to oil and gas activity on February 13, 2015.
Professor Keith Hall presented a paper that he co-authored, On Liability Issues Concerning Induced Seismicity in Hydraulic Fracturing Treatments and at Injection Disposal Wells: What Petroleum Engineers Should Know, at the Society of Petroleum Engineers Hydraulic Fracturing Technology Conference on February 3, 2015 in The Woodlands, Texas.

Professor Keith Hall wrote an article, Hydraulic Fracturing: If Fractures Cross Property Lines is there an Actionable Trespass, which was published in late 2014 in the Natural Resources Journal.
Professor Keith Hall spoke on the topic “Local Regulation of Oil & Gas Activity” at a seminar sponsored by the Baton Rouge Bar Association on December 19, 2014.
Professor Keith Hall co-authored a paper entitled Using Technology to Avoid Trespass Liability Based on Subsurface Intrusions of Hydraulic Fractures, which was published in the Hydraulic Fracturing Journal in October 2014.
Professor Keith Hall spoke on the topic “Single Well Spacing and Pooling: State Spacing and Jurisdiction over Conservation” at the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation’s Special Institute on Federal Onshore Oil & Gas Pooling and Unitization on October 29, 2014 in Westminster, Colorado.
