Jordan D. Engelhart

Director of Business Law Clinic; Assistant Professor of Professional Practice

Biography

Professor Jordan Engelhart joined the faculty at the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2024. He teaches and directs the Russell J. Stutes Small Business and Community Development Clinic, where students work with local clients on proposals to promote community-wide economic growth.

Professor Engelhart was previously a Visiting Assistant Professor at Boston College Law School, where he supervised and directed the Community Enterprise Clinic, a seven-credit transactional clinic in which students represented a range of clients, including small businesses, nonprofits, and entrepreneurs. The clinic covered the full spectrum of transactional work, from intellectual property and employment to entity formation and regulatory compliance.

Prior to his time at Boston College Law School, Professor Engelhart was a solo practitioner in Worcester, Massachusetts, representing small businesses, nonprofits, and individuals in diverse corporate, employment, and similar transactional practice areas. Previously, he founded and directed the Community Enterprise Project at MetroWest Legal Services, a unique program offering pro-bono legal representation to underserved individuals, small businesses, and nonprofits, with the goal of fostering community development both economically and socially.

His practice experience is primarily in the areas of corporate and non-profit law, with an emphasis on representing clients either pro-bono or on a sliding scale. He earned his B.A. in communications, summa cum laude, from Saginaw Valley State University in 2009, and his J.D., cum laude, from Boston College Law School in 2013.

The Russell J. Stutes Small Business and Community Development Clinic is the result of a major gift from LSU Law alumnus Russell “Rusty” Stutes, Jr. (’91) and his mother, Cissy Stutes, in memory of his late father Russell J. Stutes, Sr.
