Carlota Toledo

Director of Academic Success; Assistant Professor of Professional Practice

Biography

Professor Carlota Toledo joined the faculty at the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2024. She serves as a Professor of Professional Practice in addition to the Director of Academic Success.

Professor Toledo has extensive experience in student affairs, academic support, and advising in post-graduate and professional degree programs. She previously served as a Professor of Practice in the Academic Success and Professionalism Program at Nova Southern University Law School, where she worked closely with law students to self-assess and develop essential skills such as critical reading, logical reasoning, and professional identity. She also served as a coach in the NSU Law Raising the Bar Program, wherein she mentored and advised recent graduates throughout their preparation for the bar exam.

Prior to her time at NSU, Professor Toledo worked with students at Indiana University School of Medicine, Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, and Michigan State University School of Law.

Along with being a founding member of the Association of Academic Support Educators (AASE), a national organization for law school academic support, Professor Toledo is also a member of the Academic Support Section and Bar Passage Committee of the American Association of Law Schools (AALS), National Academic Advising Association (NACADA), and the Academic Support Network for the Law School Admissions Council (LSAC). She has presented at numerous national and regional legal education and academic support conferences on topics including academic support, bar preparation, curricular and co-curricular assessment, professional identity formation, and student engagement, among others.
