"Baton Rouge is my home, and I plan to keep it that way for a long time. Plus, the opportunities in the Baton Rouge area are taking off!"

Rodolfo "Rudy" Jesus Aguilar III

Class of 2015

LSU Law Student

Name: Rodolfo “Rudy” Jesus Aguilar III

Year in Law School/Graduation Year: 3L/2015

Hometown: Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Undergraduate University: The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Undergraduate Degree: Political Science and Romance Languages (Spanish)

What I did before I went to law school: Went to undergraduate school with no break between.

Why I chose LSU Law: Baton Rouge is my home, and I plan to keep it that way for a long time. Plus, the opportunities in the Baton Rouge area are taking off!

My biggest surprise about LSU Law: Law School is a lot more fun than I expected it to be. Ask many of my fellow students and they will agree. Law School is actually more fun than undergrad.

Favorite class and why: Property. Property law is the first time you get to experience the idea of who owns what, which has always fascinated me.

Favorite professor and why: Professor Trahan. His teaching style is really geared to logical thinking, mostly because he teaches civilian classes.

Legal interests (ex: criminal law): Business law, property law, real estate law, city planning/zoning law

Honors/Extracurricular Activities in law school: Chancellor’s Scholar Spring Semester 2013, Fall Semester 2013.

Career Aspirations: Work as a Real Estate attorney in Baton Rouge.

Life in Baton Rouge: I was born and raised here, so I am very familiar with the area. Bars galore: college style bars are near LSU, but there’s also downtown, the Perkins Road overpass, and smatterings of other gems around town. Of course, we have LSU football in the fall, parades for Mardi Gras, St. Patrick’s Day, and basically any other time we can celebrate. Plus all the great food, music and people means this city is a great place to be.
