Background: Received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Tulane; practiced civil engineering at a design consulting firm in New Orleans following undergraduate work; organized Barristers Bowl III and IV, raising more than $9,000 for charities; No. 58 Barristers Bowl jersey was retired following third year; associate managing editor ofThe Civilian; LSU Law School Ambassador; member of two-time law school championship team at the Baton Rouge Bar Association's annual "Belly Up to the Bar" cook-off.
Why Law School: I always had an inkling to go to law school, and when I realized that civil engineering wasn't as rewarding as I thought it would be, I decided to make the switch.
Why LSU Law: In addition to the affordability and high bar passage rates, many people suggested that it's a good idea to get your undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from different universities. Doing so allowed me to expand my strong ties from New Orleans to throughout Louisiana.
The Faculty: The Civilian members of the faculty really show their passion for the law through their teaching methods and lectures. When people are that passionate about what they are teaching, it's very easy to learn and appreciate the Civil Law.
The Curriculum: The curriculum offers a wide variety of subject matter. Not only is the variety good but also areas such as tax law and intellectual property have surprising depth with regard to the number of classes offered. I could have used another semester to take all the classes I was interested in taking.
Future Goals: I plan to move back to New Orleans and work for McCranie, Sistrunk, Anzelmo, Hardy, Maxwell & Daniel in Metairie. I hope to pursue construction litigation or products liability to satisfy my technical side's cravings.
