Meet LSU Law Class of 1985 Scholarship Recipient Damian Olvera

“I will never forget those who paved a way for me, and I will forever pay it forward.”
– Damian Olvera, 1L
Damian grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas, and is a graduate of Texas A & M University – Corpus Christi. He is a Mexican-American first generation law student who came to law school to open more doors for his family and to ultimately serve his community. Following an internship at the Port of Corpus Christi, he became interested in maritime law, and he hopes to give back to the city and help expand the industry in the area.
When asked what the scholarship award meant to him, Damian said, “I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generous gift to my academic journey. Your gift means so much to me and to my family back home. Awarding me this gift will have a compound effect to every community I am a part of. I will never forget those who paved a way for me, and I will forever pay it forward.”
