Charles S. McCowan, Jr. ('67) - of the law firm Kean Miller, was recently listed in the 2012 edition of Chambers USA-America's Leading Lawyers for Business.  Mr. McCowan was also recognized by Best Lawyers for 2013.

David B. Graham ('69) - of the law firm of Kaufman & Canoles in Williamsburg, Virginia, was recognized as one of Virginia's leading environmental attorneys in the November 29, 2012 issue of Virginia Business Magazine when he was featured in the "Legal Elite of the Commonwealth".

Honorable Bernette J. Johnson ('69) - Louisiana Supreme Court, was honored as a "Legend" by the A.P. Tureaud, Sr. Black Alumni Chapter of the LSU Alumni Association during its Annual Legends Forum. Justice Johnson will become the first black Chief Justice of the Louisiana Supreme Court.

Eugene R. Groves ('70) - of Taylor Porter, was selected by his peers for recognition in Best Lawyers' 2013 Lawyers of the Year as the "Baton Rouge Litigation - Construction Lawyer of the Year".

Samuel W. Carverlee ('71) - of the Shreveport firm Cook, Yancey, King & Galloway, has been named Best Lawyers' 2013 Shreveport Personal Injury Litigation - Defendants "Lawyer of the Year."

Lawrence J. Centola, Jr. ('71) - has joined the New Orleans litigation firm of Scheuermann & Jones.

James. P. Dore' ('73) - of the law firm Kean Miller, was recently recognized by Best Lawyers for 2013.

Dean A. Sutherland ('75) - of counsel to the New Orleans firm of Jeansonne & Remondet, was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2013 in the areas of Admiralty & Maritime Law and Insurance Law.  He was also selected by his peers for inclusion in the Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of "Preeminent Lawyers", as AV Preeminent in Insurance Law.  Mr. Sutherland is an adjunct professor at the LSU Law Center, teaching Admiralty and Maritime Law, and he also coaches the Law Center teams that compete in the annual Judge John R. Brown Admiralty Moot Court Competition.

James Walsh ('75) - a partner in the Ann Arbor, Michigan office of Detroit-based Bodman PLC, was recognized in The Best Lawyers in America 2013 in Commercial Litigation. He was also named a "Top Lawyer" for 2013 by DBusiness in the areas of Appellate law and First Amendment Law.

John Waters ('75) - of the firm Bienvenu, Foster, Ryan & O'Bannon, LLC, has become a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.

Judge Jay C. Zainey ('75) - United States District Court Judge Jay C. Zainey has been named the University of New Orleans 2012 Homer L. Hitt Distinguished Alumnus of the Year.  He was presented with the award at a ceremony in the fall.

Leonard L. Killgore, III ('76) - of the law firm Kean Miller, was recently listed in the 2012 edition of Chambers USA-America's Leading Lawyers for Business.  Mr. Killgore was also named by Best Lawyers, as one of the "Baton Rouge Lawyers of the Year" for 2013.

Steven G. "Buzz" Durio ('77) - a partner in  Durio, McGoffin, Stagg & Ackermann, was recently installed as treasurer of the Louisiana State Bar Association, and he will serve for a two-year term.

Bernard Johnson ('77) - of the Shreveport firm Cook, Yancey, King & Galloway, has become a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of the premier legal associations in America.

Larry M. Roedel ('77) - of the Roedel Parsons Koch Law Firm, was named to The Best Lawyers in America 2013 in the practice area of Civil Litigation.

Neil Buckingham ('78) - is the current Manager of State Relations for Shell Oil Company.

Carey J. Messina ('78) - of the law firm Kean Miller, was recently named by Best Lawyers, as one of the "Baton Rouge Lawyers of the Year" for 2013.

Joseph L. "Larry" Shea, Jr. ('78) - of the law firm Bradley, Murchison, Kelly & Shea, has been elected President-Elect for the Louisiana State Bar Association, with his term being June 2013 to June 2014.  He will assume the Presidency for the year 2014-2015.  Mr Shea was also recognized by The Best Lawyers in America 2012-2013 for environmental ligitation, real estate litigation, and labor and employment litigation.  Mr. Shea was also named in Best Lawyers as the "Shreveport Best Lawyers Litigation - Environmental Lawyer of the Year" for 2013.  Shea was also recognized by Louisiana Super Lawyers for his work in class action/mass torts and energy & natural resources repeatedly from 2008 to 2012.

Bingham M. Stewart ('78) - is an attorney with Baton Rouge Title Company, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Gary A. Bezet ('79) - of the law firm Kean Miller, was recently listed in the 2012 edition of Chambers USA-America's Leading Lawyers for Business.  Mr. Bezet was also named by Best Lawyers, as one of the "Baton Rouge Lawyers of the Year" for 2013.

Susie Morgan (’80) – a former partner of Phelps Dunbar law firm, was nominated by President Barack Obama in 2011 to a seat on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.  Susie was confirmed by the full Senate on March 28, 2012 and received her commission on March 30, 2012.

Joseph P. Hebert ('81) - of the Lafayette office of Liskow & Lewis, APLC, has recently earned his Masters of Law in Taxation, summa cum laude, from the University of Alabama School of Law.  Mr. Hebert was named valedictorian of his graduating class, having achieved a GPA of 4.00.

Katherine W. King ('81) - of the law firm Kean Miller, was recently listed in the 2012 edition of Chambers USA-America's Leading Lawyers for Business.  Ms. King was also recognized by Best Lawyers for 2013.

Sidney E. Cook, Jr. ('82) - of the Shreveport firm Cook, Yancey, King & Galloway, has been named the Best Lawyers' 2013 Shreveport Product Liability Litigation - Defendants "Lawyer of the Year."

Vance Gibbs ('82) - of the law firm Kean Miller, was named General Counsel for the Board of Directors of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America in New York.  Mr. Gibbs was also recognized by Best Lawyers for 2013.

Isaac McPherson "Mack" Gregorie, Jr. ('82) - of the law firm Kean Miller, was recently listed in the 2012 edition of Chambers USA-America's Leading Lawyers for Business. Mr. Gregorie was also named by Best Lawyers, as on of the "Baton Rouge Lawyers of the Year" for 2013.

Maureen N. Harbourt ('82) - of the law firm Kean Miller, was recently listed in the 2012 edition of Chambers USA-America's Leading Lawyers for Business.  Ms. Harbourt was also recognized by Best Lawyers for 2013.

James A. Brown ('84) - of the New Orleans office of Liskow & Lewis, has become a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of the premier legal associations in America.  Mr. Brown was inducted as a Fellow during the 2012 Annual Meeting of the College in New York.  Mr. Brown heads Liskow & Lewis' commercial litigation and professional liability practices.

G. Blane Clark, Jr. ('84) - of the law firm Kean Miller, was recently listed in the 2012 edition of Chambers USA-America's Leading Lawyers for Business.  Mr. Clark was also recognized by Best Lawyers for 2013.

Melanie M. Hartmann ('84) - of the law firm Kean Miller, was recently listed in the 2012 edition of Chambers USA-America's Leading Lawyers for Business.

Timothy F. Daniels ('85) - of the New Orleans office of Irwin, Fritchie, Urquhart & Moore, was installed as the President of the New Orleans Bar Association at their annual dinner in November.

Thomas D. Guidry ('85) - is a self-employed attorney and real estate broker in Littleton, Colorado.  He is admitted in Louisiana and Colorado.

David K. Nelson ('85) - of the law firm Kean Miller, was recently recognized by Best Lawyers for 2013.

Patty McMurray ('86) - a partner in the Baton Rouge office of Adams and Reese, has been selected to The Fellows of the American Bar Foundation in recognition of her dedication to the profession, service to society, and the commitment to the work of the ABF and the ideals and the objectives of the American Bar Association.

Shelly Deckert Dick (’88) – was nominated by President Barack Obama in April, 2012 to a seat on the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana.  Her nomination was confirmed on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 by the Senate Judiciary Committee, and full Senate confirmation is pending.

David M. Bienvenu ('91) - of the firm Bienvenu, Bonnecaze, Foco, Viator & Holinga, was recognized by Best Lawyers in America 2012 in the field of Mass Tort Litigation.

Angela Smith Bryson ('91) - co-founder of the Bryson Law Firm, was recently honored by the Better Business Bureau of South Central Louisiana as a recipient of their prestigious "Douglas Manship, Sr. Torch Award" for Ethics in Business.

Cary B. Bryson ('91) - co-founder of the Bryson Law Firm, was recently honored by the Better Business Bureau of South Central Louisiana as a recipient of their prestigious "Douglas Manship, Sr. Torch Award" for Ethics in Business.  Mr. Bryson was also recently featured in the Wall Street Journal with other financial professionals as one of America's Premier Experts "Financial Trendsetters".

John F. Jakuback ('92) - of the law firm Kean Miller, was recently recognized by Best Lawyers for 2013.

J. Randy Young ('92) - of the law firm Kean Miller, was recently listed in the 2012 edition of Chambers USA-America's Leading Lawyers for Business. Mr. Young was also recognized in Best Lawyers for 2013.

Kevin C. Curry ('94) - of the law firm Kean Miller, has been appointed Chairman of the Trust Code Committee of the Louisiana State Law Institute.

Bonnie "Jeanne" Davis ('95) - of Taylor Porter, has been selected by her peers for recognition in Best Lawyers' 2013 Lawyers of the Year as the "Baton Rouge Patent Law Lawyer of the Year".

Brooke de Montluzin ('96) - leads the External Political Relations team at the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan.  Her previous postings with the State Department include South Africa, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Trinidad and Tobago, and Washington, D.C.

A. Edward Hardin, Jr. ('97) - of the law firm Kean Miller, was recently listed in the 2012 edition of Chambers USA-America's Leading Lawyers for Business.

William M. Quin ('97) - of the firm McCraney, Montagnet, Quin & Noble, was recognized in The Best Lawyers in America 2013 in the practice area of Personal Injury Litigation - Plaintiffs and was named the Jackson, Mississippi "Lawyer of the Year" in the practice area of Mass Tort Litigation/Class Action - Plaintiffs.

John Allain Viator ('98) - of the law firm Bienvenu, Bonnecaze, Foco, Viator & Holinga, was recently recognized as a "Rising Star" by Louisiana Super Lawyers in the field of Class Action/Mass Torts for 2012 and 2013.

Terrence D. McCay ('99) - of the law firm Kean Miller, was recently recognized by Best Lawyers for 2013.

Blake R. David ('01) - of the Lafayette firm of Broussard & David LLC, was named President of the Lafayette Bar Association, a membership organization which represents over 900 attorneys and judges in the Lafayette area.

Van Mayhall, III ('01) - of Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson, LLP, has been selected by Baton Rouge Business Report as one of the "Forty Under 40" for 2012.  Mr. Mayhall is an 11-year veteran at Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson, where he practices insurance law.  He has also been named a "Rising Star" in Louisiana Super Lawyers and has been recommended as an attorney by A.M. Best.

David H. Ogwyn ('01) - of the Ogwyn Law Firm in Baton Rouge, was honored as one of the "Forty Under 40" for 2012 by the Greater Baton Rouge Business Report.

Tiffany Pucheu ('01) - has rejoined the firm of Kean Miller as an associate attorney in the Baton Rouge office.

Michelle Craig ('02) - of the law firm Adams and Reese, was recently selected among the "2012 Most Powerful and Influential Women in Louisiana," and was recognized at the fourth annual Louisiana Women's Conference, hosted by the National Diversity Council.  Ms. Craig area of practice is labor and employment law.

Susannah O. Stinson ('03) - of the firm Neil Erwin Law, LLC, joined the firm in October 2012 after serving six years in administration at LSU-Shreveport as Associate Vice Chancellor for University Development.  She will assist the firm in its existing practice areas of land use regulation and zoning, municipal and local government law, real estate, and litigation matters, including smart growth advice to government and business.  While at LSU Law, Mrs. Stinton was a member of The Order of the Coif and was a Senior Editor on the Board of Editors for Volume 63 of the Louisiana Law Review.

Michael Lowe ('04) - of the Shreveport firm Cook, Yancey, King & Galloway, was recently selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2013 in the area of Construction Law.

Andrew Spaniol ('04) - of the Dallas law firm of Bryan Cave LLP, was recognized as a "Rising Star" by Texas Lawyers magazine in 2012 and 2013.

Jeffrey K. Coreil ('07) - of Laborde & Neuner, was honored with the Louisiana State Bar Association's Young Lawyers Council's 2012 Pro Bono Award during the LSBA's Annual Meeting.  Coreil was recognized with this prestigious award for his Pro Bono efforts with Lafayette Volunteer Lawyers.

David Coons ('09) - of the law firm Adams and Reese, has been accepted into the 2012-2013 class of Loyola University's Institute of Politics program, which educates individuals interested in politics and political leadership in the New Orleans region.  Mr. Coons is an associate in the firm's Litigation Practice group.

Michael deBarros ('09) - has recently joined the law firm of Kean Miller as an associate in the Baton Rouge office.

Jenna Hatty ('09) - has joined the law firm of Donohue, Patrick & Scott, PLLC in Baton Rouge, Louisiana as of March 2012.

Melissa Corneille Jocelyn ('11) - holds the position of Project Manager at the Secretariat General of the Prime Minister's Office in Haiti.

Joshua Paul Melder ('11) - has joined the Office of the Governor of Louisiana as Assistant Executive Counsel.

Ryan Chenevert ('12) - a law clerk for the 23rd Judicial District Court of Louisiana under Judge Ralph Tureau was recently awarded "Bachelor of the Year" by Cosmo magazine.

Joshua P. Downer ('12) - has joined the Houston office of Liskow & Lewis as an associate. His areas of practice include appellate litigation, business litigation, and energy litigation.
