1960s

Shelby McKenzie, 1964Shelby McKenzie ('64) of the firm Taylor Porter, was named Best Lawyers 2011 Insurance Lawyer of the Year.

Clay Johnson ('69), a partner in the firm Taylor Porter, has been elected Chairman of the Board for the Capital Area Red Cross.

Judge Bernette Johnson ('69)  received The Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law's Distinguished Civil Rights Advocate Award on Augusut 11, 2010 in New Orleans.

1970s

David Cassidy ('75) of the firm Breazeale, Sachse & Wison, was recognized by the Chamber USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business for Louisiana 2010 edition in the area of Coporate/M&A: Tax.

Judge Elizabeth Foote ('78) was installed as a U.S. District Court Judge for Louisiana's Western District.  She is the first female judge in Shreveport federal court.

Murphy Foster ('79) of the firm Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson, was recognized by Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business for Louisiana 2010 edition in the area of Labor & Employment.

1980s

Vicki M. Crochet, 1980Vicki M. Crochet ('80) of the firm Taylor Porter, was recognized in the new high practice area rankings in Chamber USA - America's Leading Lawyers for Business.  She practices all areas of employment law.

Anne J. Crochet, 1983Anne J. Crochet ('83) of the firm Taylor Porter, was recognized in the new high practice area rankings in Chamber USA - America's Leading Lawyers for Business. Ms. Crochet represents business and industry by providing regulatory compliance advice, securing permits for new and modified facilities, defending enforcement actions, and protecting interests through litigation.

Harry J. Philips, Jr., 1983Harry J. "Skip" Philips, Jr. ('83) of the firm Taylor Porter, has been elected Managing Partner of the firm by its Executive Committee.  Mr. Philips was also named Best Lawyers 2011 Commercial Litigation Lawyer of the Year.  Mr. Philips is also being recognized in the high practice area rankings in Chamber USA - America's Leading Lawyers for Business.  His primary areas of practice includes state and federal civil trial and appellate litigation, including banking, commerical, insurance, personal injury, insurance coverage and products liablity cases.

Brett P. Furr, 1986Brett P. Furr ('86) of the firm Taylor Porter, is recognized among high practice area rankings in Chamber USA - America's Leading Lawyers for Business.  Mr. Furr is engaged primarily in a real estate and commercial litigation practice.

Tammera "Tammy" Velasquez ('88) joined Grant Thornton LLP as State Government Relations Executive Director.

R. David Wheat ('88) with the Dallas firm Thompson & Knight, was named "Lawyer of the Year" in Tax Law by the publication The Best Lawyers in America.  The publication designates one "Lawyer of the Year" by practice area in major metropolitan regions across the nation.

1990s

Mark A. Bodron ('90), a partner in the Houston office of Baker Botts LLP, has been inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel.

Lance J. Kinchen ('92) of the firm Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the National Association of Dealer Counsel (NADC).  The NADC is a nationwide professional organization of nearly 500 attorneys who represent automobile and other vehicle dealers.

G. Trippe Hawhorne ('95) of Kean, Miller, Hawthorne, D'Armond, McCowan & Jarman, was honored by the Louisiana State Bar Association with its Crystal Gavel Award at the 25th Annual Law Expo luncheon, presented by the Baton Rouge Bar Association on September 8, 2010.

Judge Robert W. Rideout, Jr. ('98) was appointed as a U.S. Administrative Law Judge.  His appointment took effect September 26, 2010.

Maggie Trahan Simar ('98) has been certified elected for the position of 2011-2012 Young Lawyers Section secretary with the Louisiana State Bar Association.

Melanie Sue Feilds ('99) of the 19th Judicial District Court, was honored by the Louisiana State Bar Association with its Cyrstal Gavel Award at the 25th Annual Baton Rouge Bar Association Law Expo luncheon on September 8, 2010.

2000s

Lawrence J. Centola, III ('01) has been certified elected for the position of 2011-2012 Young Lawyers Section chair-elect for the Louisiana State Bar Association.

Lee White, 2001Lee White ('01) of the Dallas firm Jackson Walker LLP, has been selected as a Texas Monthly magazine's "Rising Star".

Heather Forrest, 2003Heather Forrest ('03) of the Dallas firm Jackson Walker, was elected to the Board of Trustees of the Dallas Chlidren's Theater.

Katherine Krupa Green ('05)  of the Louisiana Department of Justice, was honored by the Louisiana State Bar Association with its Crystal Gavel Award at the 25th Annual Baton Rouge Bar Association Law Expo luncheon on September 8, 2010.

Holly V. Horsley ('05) has joined the Trenton, New Jersey law firm of GluckWalrath LLP as an associate.  Her practice focuses on public finance, low-income housing and redevelopment projects, as well as various corporate real estate and municipal transactions.

Andy Dupre, 2009Andy Dupre ('09) has joined the New Orleans-based law firm of Flanagan Partners LLP, concentrating in commercial litgation and civil appeals.
