Class Notes - October 2021

1970s

Randy Opotowsky ('77) of Steeg Law Firm in New Orleans was included in The Best Lawyers in America 2022 for Banking and Finance Law, Commercial Finance Law, Commercial Transactions/UCC Law, Real Estate Law, Litigation – Real Estate (2012-2022), an honor he has received every year since 2012.

 

 

 


Judge Yvette Alexander ('79) was sworn in as president of the American Judges Association on Oct. 4. AJA is the largest independent organization of judges from all jurisdictions & levels of courts throughout the United States and Canada.

1980s

Richard Arsenault ('80) will chair a seminar in Austin, Texas in December regarding MultiDistrict Litigation: "Navigating the Landmines." Richard was also selected as a 2021 "Elite Lawyer of the South" by The National Law Journal. 


Ricardo A. Aguilar (‘86) has joined Adams and Reese LLP's Financial Services practice as a Partner in the firm's New Orleans office.

 

 

 

 

 

1990s

Beverly Whitley ('90) of Bell Nunnally in Dallas has been named to the 2021 "Texas Super Lawyers" list. She was also recognized individually as a "Litigation Star" in the Benchmark Litigation 2022 guide following Bell Nunnally’s nomination as a "Recommended" firm in Texas.

 

 

 


Judge Daniel Ellender ('91) of the 4th Judicial District Court has been elected First Vice President of the Louisiana District Judges Association. The LDJA is a professional nonprofit corporation whose mission includes the administration of justice, representation of the interests of judges, and the professional development of its membership to provide the greatest access to fair, just, and responsive trial courts. 

 

 


Angela Gauthier (’91) has been promoted to vice president, provider networks & contracting for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana, which she has been with since 1999.


Judge Timothy Marcel ('96) of the 29th Judicial District Court has been elected Secretary of the Louisiana District Judges Association. The LDJA is a professional nonprofit corporation whose mission includes the administration of justice, representation of the interests of judges, and the professional development of its membership to provide the greatest access to fair, just, and responsive trial courts.

 

 


Judge Brady O'Callaghan ('98) of the 1st Judicial District Court has been elected Immediate Past President of the Louisiana District Judges Association. 2000s

Lexi Holinga ('05) recently joined Hinshaw & Culbertson in Baton Rouge as partner.


Lindsay F. Louapre ('07) of Mouledoux, Bland, Legrand, & Brackett in New Orleans has been selected for Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch 2022 for Transportation Law.

2010s

J. Edward McAuliffe, III ('11) of Mouledoux, Bland, Legrand, & Brackett in New Orleans has been selected for Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch 2022 for Transportation Law.


Lydia Adeosun ('14) recently joined LSU as a Civil Rights and Title IX Investigator.


R. Kyle Alagood ('15) has joined the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Homeland Security as Intelligence and Counterterrorism Counsel. Kyle previously served as National Security Advisor and Senior Counsel to Congressman Eric Swalwell.

 

 

2020s

Missy Oakley ('20) has joined Barran Liebman LLP in Portland, Oregon.
