Class Notes - April 2020

1970s

Peter W. Arbour (’74) has been accepted into the Senior Lawyers Visiting Professors’ program of the Center for International Legal Studies, headquartered in Salzburg, Austria. Arbour has been assigned to teach a course on Corporate and White Collar Crime as a guest member of the Faculty of Law at Masaryk University in the city of Brno in the Czech Republic. Originally scheduled for the Spring Semester of 2020, this assignment has been postponed to a later date because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Arbour is the retired Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Willbros Group, Inc., living in Houston, Texas.


1980s

Richard Arsenault Richard Arsenault (’80) of Neblett, Beard & Arsenault has been selected by the American Institute of Personal Injury Attorneys as one of the "10 Best Attorneys for Louisiana." He has also been recognized as Acquisition International's Leading Trial Attorney of the Year for Louisiana as part of their Leading Advisor Awards.


Robert K. Reeves (’82) is being inducted into the LSU E.J. Ourso College of Business 2020 Hall of Distinction for his success and contributions to his profession and community. Reeves recently retired as executive vice president and chief administrative officer for Anadarko Petroleum Corp. in Houston.


1990s

Crystal S. Richard (’94) has been named publisher of The Ruston Daily Leader.


John Jerry Glas (’96) has become a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of the premier legal associations in North America. Glas is the chair of the Civil Litigation Department at the law firm of Deutsch Kerrigan, LLP.


Mark Miller (’97) has joined Kean Miller in the firm’s Shreveport office. He has 22 years in the legal field and practices in the business group, where he represents clients in corporate transaction, business formation, merger and acquisition, real estate, succession, estate planning and litigation matters.


2000s

Emily B. GreyEmily Black Grey, a partner in the Baton Rouge office of Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson and manager of the firm’s health care section, has been re-appointed Chair of the American Health Lawyers Association Hospitals and Health Systems Practice Group. The practice group includes approximately 2,300 lawyers from around the United States who focus on the representation of hospitals and health systems.


Erin Kilgore (’07) has been chosen by Kean Miller to be a member of the 2020 class of Fellows, participating in a landmark program created by the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) to identify, train and advance the next generation of leaders in the legal profession.


Michelle Shamblin Stratton (’09) has been named a Rising Star for 2020 by Super Lawyers. She is counsel at Smyser Kaplan & Veselka LLP in Houston.


2010s

Patrick H. Hunt (’12) has been named a partner at Bienvenu, Bonnecaze, Foco, Viator, and Holinga APLLC. His practice focuses on general litigation including cases involving premises liability, toxic torts, worker’s compensation, commercial disputes, environmental litigation, employment discrimination, and general personal injury in state and federal courts.


Matthew Smith (’13) has been named a Kean Miller partner in the firm’s Baton Rouge office. He practices with the energy and environmental litigation practice group.


Matthew A. Haltzman (’14) has founded Haltzman Law Firm in Fort Collins, Colorado. The firm’s team includes trial attorneys, as well as a medical doctor and toxicologists who provide client consultations.


Rudy Aguillar III (’15) has been named associate general counsel at Amazon Web Services in Seattle. He was formerly an associate attorney at McGlinchey Stafford in Baton Rouge.


Thomas Naquin (’19) has joined Bienvenu, Bonnecaze, Foco, Viator, and Holinga APLLC, practicing in the area of general litigation with an emphasis on toxic tort litigation, mass tort, and environmental and product liability litigation.
