Class Notes - August 2019

1960s

Retired Judge Tony Graphia (’63) has published “The Eagle & The Hawk,” a fictional crime novel set in his native Baton Rouge. It is available for purchase at Cottonwood Books in Baton Rouge, and Caviler House of Books in Denham Springs.


Louisiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Bernette Joshua Johnson (’69) received the William H. Hastie Award in New York. Presented by the National Bar Association Judicial Council, the award recognizes excellence in legal and judicial scholarship and demonstrated commitment to justice under law.


1970s

 John T. Nesser III (’73) has been appointed to succeed Charles A. Sorrentino as the non-executive chairperson of the Thermon Group Holdings Inc. board of directors.


Frank Neuner Jr. (’76) has been appointed to the board of directors of the Legal Services Corporation, the nation’s single largest provider of legal assistance grants for low-income Americans. Neuner is managing partner of Neuner, Pate.

 


1990s

Stephen Holliday (’94) has accepted an appointment as a member of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, Transportation Research Board Standing Committee on Intermodal Freight Transport. Holliday is director of commercial trucking in the Office of Multimodal Commerce at the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.


Mary Hester (’94) has been appointed to the Louisiana State Law Institute's Successions and Donations Committee. Hester is a partner at Taylor, Porter, Brooks & Phillips.


Robert J. David Jr. (’92) has joined Perry Dampf Dispute Resolutions at its mediation center in Lafayette. David is a shareholder with Juneau David, APLC, and listed in “The Best Lawyers in America” for personal injury law, and labor and employment law.


2000s

Michael Leachman (’05) was named as a member of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber’s Leadership Baton Rogue Class of 2020. Leachman is a partner at Jones Walker.


2010s

John Bihm (’10) will be participating in the 2019-20 Louisiana State Bar Association Leadership Class. Bihm is an associate at Riess Lemieux.


Erin Sayes Kenny (‘11) was recognized by the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division as one of its “On the Rise—Top 40 Young Lawyers.” Kenny is a partner at Taylor Porter.


Christopher Pope (’11) has been recognized by The Florida Bar with Board Certification in Condominium and Planned Development Law. Pope is a partner at Pavese Law Firm.
