J. Lanier Yeates (Graduate Superior) Endowed Scholarship in Law

In 2018, Marie R. Yeates and J. Lanier Yeates established an endowed scholarship to benefit students at the LSU Law Center. The endowment was initiated by Marie to honor her husband’s distinguished academic career at LSU and the Law Center, and in recognition of his successful professional career in energy Law.  Lanny has, according to Marie, “an unwavering support of his alma mater.” Lanny graduated from LSU in 1977 and from the LSU Law Center in 1981. He served as Chairman of the LSU Foundation, President of Campanile Charities, a benefactor of the Law Center and LSU. Lanny was awarded the Distinguished Service Award in 2006 by the Law Center. Marie also graduated from LSU in 1977 and from the LSU Law Center in 1980.  While in law school, Lanny and Marie were on the Louisiana Law Review, and both graduated The Order of the Coif.  Lanny and Marie have had highly successful legal careers in the Houston area. Both have been long-standing members of the Law Center’s Chancellor’s/Dean’s Council.

The scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student, and financial need may be a consideration in selecting recipients.
