Events will kick off on the afternoon of Friday, Sept. 20, with two hours of free CLE at the Paul M. Hebert Law Center for all reunion classes and Dean’s Council members, with a Reunion Reception celebrating the classes of 1974, 1984, 1994, 1999, 2004, and 2014 to follow in the evening.

On Saturday, Sept. 21, all LSU Law alumni and their families are invited to join us for the All-Alumni Tailgate and Hats ‘n Canes Toast prior to the UCLA vs. LSU game. Full event details are below.

Friday, September 20

1:30-4:00 p.m.    Free Continuing Legal Education

Two hours of free CLE, one on ethics and one on professionalism. Parking is available in the Union Square Garage. Open to members of the reunion classes and members of the Law Dean’s Council.

The Ethics session will be presented by James A. Brown ’84. Titled “Musical Ethics”, Mr. Brown presents ethics hypotheticals, using a fiddle to emphasize points, maintain attention and prompt audience participation. The session will start at 1:30 and end at 2:30 p.m.

The professionalism session will be presented by classmates and former law partners,  J. Cullens ’94 and Judge Darrel Papillion ’94. They will review the Attorney’s Oath in “reunion mode” – what did it mean then and what does it mean now. Using a examples of actions that were both legal and ethical, they will invite discussion of whether these actions were also professional. At the conclusion of the presentation, Judge Papillion will administer the Attorney’s Oath to participants.

 

6:00- 7:00 p.m. Private Reception for the Class of 1974

7:00-10:00 p.m.   Reception for all Reunion Classes

De La Ronde Hall, 320 3rd Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70801

Beginning at 6:00 p.m., the Class of 1974 will have a private reception at De La Ronde Hall to reconnect with classmates. Then at 7:00 p.m., all reunion classes will join the celebration.

Join Dean Allen and your classmates for adult beverages and heavy hors d’oeuvres at De La Ronde Hall. The venue is a short walk from your downtown hotel with plentiful street parking and public lots and garages nearby.

Saturday, September 21

10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.    All-Alumni Tailgate and 3L/LLM Hats ‘n Canes Toast

Start time: four hours prior to kick-off of the LSU vs. UCLA game

Free and open to all alumni, current students, and families. Join us for jambalaya, beverages, and camaraderie. Raise your glass to the 2025 graduating class as they don their hats and brandish canes in salute to one of the oldest LSU Law traditions. Our Hats ‘n Canes Toast will take place midway through the tailgate at 12:30 p.m. Catering provided by All Star Catering.

 

A few other details about the weekend:

Hotel – we will have a very small block of hotel rooms available at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center. The link to reserve your room will be distributed once an alumni has registered for the weekend. You must register before August 21 to receive this special room rate.

However, if you have a different preferred hotel, I suggest you make your reservation as soon as possible as rooms will fill up quickly during football season.

Football Tickets – we will not have any tickets available for purchase. If you would like to attend the game, please reach out to LSU Athletics.
