For Judges
2023 American Moot Court Association National Championships:
LSU Law is pleased to serve as the host for the 2023 American Moot Court Association (AMCA) National Championships! We are currently seeking attorneys to judge all rounds of the competition. Third-year law students can also judge in the competition’s preliminary rounds. All competition rounds will be held at LSU on January 14 & 15, 2023. Judges will observe undergraduate students present oral arguments in a fictional U.S. Supreme Court case, and will ask questions and evaluate the students’ arguments.
Anyone interested in judging can sign up at: 2023 AMCA National Championships Judge Registration Form
Spring 2023 Internal Competitions:
Attorneys and judges are encouraged to volunteer as a guest judge for one or more of the Law Center’s many internal advocacy competitions! Support from the bar is crucial to the success of these programs, and we welcome all volunteers. Guest judges are typically asked to sit on a bench for one round of a competition, but are free to volunteer for additional rounds. internal competition rounds are typically held on weekday evenings, and a round typically lasts approximately two hours. Student representatives of the Board of Advocates will circulate case files, bench briefs, and scoresheets to guest judges in advance of their rounds.
Judge registration for our spring internal competitions (the Spring Flory Trials, Transactional Competition, and the Dean’s Cup) will open on January 3, 2023. We currently plan to hold all competitions live and in-person at the LSU Law Center. For more information, contact advocacyprogram@lsu.edu.
