- Note: It is not necessary that you purchase the 2023 edition of the Civil Code. An older version of the Civil Code will suffice, as most of the law that we will study has not been revised recently. However, we will frequently refer to the Official Legislative Commentary to the Civil Code articles that we will study in this course. Not all versions of the Louisiana Civil Code contain Official Legislative Commentary. If your Civil Code does not contain Official Legislative Commentary, you will be expected to either access the Civil Code on Westlaw or Lexis or purchase a Civil Code that contains the required materials. A recommended version of the Civil Code with commentary is Lonegrass, Louisiana Civil Code with Official Legislative Commentary: 2023 Student Edition.
