Chris Hester

Class of 2008

LSU Law Student

Background: Served as Student Bar Association Class President during first and second years at LSU Law Center, SBA Executive President during third year, Interschool Bankruptcy Moot Court team during second year, Law School Ambassador during second and third years.

Why Law School:  My dad is a lawyer and retired judge and I have always been interested in what he was doing. For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a lawyer.

Why LSU Law: The LSU Law Center was my first choice for law school. I love Baton Rouge and have lived here my whole life. LSU is hands down the best place to attend law school if you desire to stay in Louisiana after graduation.

The Faculty: The professors here are great and things are only going to get better. I had the privilege of taking classes from legendary professors such as Saul Litvinoff, Frank Maraist, and Cheney Joseph. Also, young professors like Ron Scalise do an incredible job of bringing a level of energy and excitement to the classroom that is appreciated by many students. Chancellor Jack Weiss has done great things in his short tenure, and I am sure that he will continue to do more of the same. Hiring new faculty members and beginning the clinical program are just a couple of examples.

The Curriculum: The curriculum at LSU Law allowed me to take classes I found interesting, while also preparing me for my future in the legal world.

Future Goals: I will be working in Baton Rouge for a mid-size firm doing primarily medical malpractice defense work. I know that LSU Law has prepared me with the skills that I will need to succeed in the future. Eventually, I plan to be involved in politics.

Just for Fun: I enjoy playing sports and attending LSU sporting events. I also coach 8th grade basketball at St. Aloysius Catholic School in Baton Rouge.
